      Childhood

Saint Dominic Savio was born on April 2, 1842 in the village of Riva, Northern Italy. He was the second of eleven children born to Charles and Brigid Savio who were poor. What we know about St. Dominic comes from a biography by St. John Bosco.

      School Days

St. Dominic was very happy, enjoyed school and liked to play. He was liked by his friends and respected by them. St Dominic could always keep control of his emotions. The Savios attended church in the town of Murialdo and the pastor, Father John Lucca, knew them very  well. Father Jhon let him make his First Communion at the age of seven.

      Growing faith

One day St. Dominic was falsely accused of committed a serious offense and his  teacher scolded him but he said nothing. A few days later the boy who was actually guilty was discovered. His teacher wondered why he didn't speak up. St Dominic said  "I knew that the other boy was in trouble for other things. I remembered how Our Lord had been unjustly accused, and I hoped that if I kept silence he would be given another chance."donboscowest.org

Four years later St. Dominic had unfortunately died from an illness possibly pleurisy, in 1857. He died in Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy. His feast day is March 9th. He was canonized a saint on June 12, 1954,  by Pope Pius XII. He became a saint because "A teenager such as Dominic, who bravely struggled to keep his innocence from Baptism to the end of his life, is really a saint," said Pope St. Pius X. http://www.catholic.org/ Pope St. Pius XII. canonized St. Dominic Savio.     Ways I could be like my saint

  • Three ways I could be like St. Dominic Savio are that I could never lie because then no one would be falsely accused. I could also trust in god that is anything bad happened I would be given another chance. Finally I could help people that are falsely accused.
