During World war 2, he served as a B-24 liberator bombardier
May 26, 1943 he spent 47 days lost at sea.
After being held on Kwajalein, Zamperini was shipped to the Japanese. Where he was named " the bird" and tortured severely beaten, starved and exposed to dieases.
The Japanese radio station brought Zamperini into the station and tried to make him read propaganda on air.
In 2014 the movie unbroken was released and based on Louis Zamperini.
