1854- The Kansas-Nebraska Act creates two new US territorys and allows settlers to chose whether slavery will be allowed there.Later the coused a problem because others would come in and vote illegally to make the new territroys slave state.
1855- The Bogus Legislature meets and the Wakarusa War erupts. That caused the war to get worse.
1856- A year of violence includes an attack on Lawrence and the Pottawatomie Massacre.And cause the towns to fight back.
1857- The Supreme Court rules in the Dred Scott Decision that slaves are not citizens of the United States.That caused lots of people to be slaves for the other citizens in the US.
1858- The Marais des Cygnes Masscre creates tension in the nation.
1859- The Wyandotte Constitutional Convention produces an anti-slavery constition that becomes the basis of our state government today.
1860- The Pony Express begins porviding fast mail serviec.That went through Kansas which then the had to made Kansas a territory.
