Henry Hudson first voyage, also known as The North Passage took place around 1607. He explored for the Muscovy Company on the Hopewell ship. His aim was to find a faster sea route to India, since indian spices were worth a lot in Europe, but were extremely expensive to transport.
Henry Hudson's second voyage was named the Northeast voyage. He set sail in the year 1608 on the same ship he used for his first Voyage. Henry Hudson son was apart of the crew, as well as some people from the first voyage. His ideal goal was to find a northeast route to Asia, it did not take him long to come to the realization that, in fact that goal was impossible.
Hudson went on his third voyage in the year 1609 after he received a letter in Holland about how there possibly may be a western sea route. Henry Hudson took the ship named the "half moon" for his third voyage. After many stops and native american interactions, they started sailing up the east coast of North America.
On Henry Hudson's third voyage he sailed into a river, which today is known as the Hudson River. The river got its name, not because Henry was the first to discover it (which is false two other people found it before him) but because Henry Hudson and his crew were the first to sail any real distance through the river.
Once again the Dutch East India Company and the Muscovy Company funded Henry Hudson for his fourth, and final voyage. This voyage took place in the year of 1610. Henry Hudson sailed from London trying to find the Pacific, he stopped quickly in Iceland then proceeded on his way. He sailed into a huge body of water that Hudson thought to be the Pacific Ocean, but was instead named after him, the Hudson Bay.
On the way back from Hudson fourth voyage in the year of 16011, his crew mutinied against him. They not only mutinied against him, but his son as well. The rest of the crew put Hudson, his son, and a few other crewmen on a small ship and left them. No one knows what happened after they sailed on the small boat, but it is expected that Henrys death was soon to follow.
Henry Hudson, born in England in 1565 had many goals and ideas. With the help of his wife, kids and the Dutch East India Company he achieved some of his goals and made new impacts. Thankfully to Hudson third voyage we now have the Hudson River, and his fourth voyage gifted us the Hudson Bay. Henry Hudson went on four voyages in the span of 5 years. It takes a very determined and navigational person to accomplish such things. Sadly his crew wasn't the biggest fan of him come to his final voyage, by throwing him off the ship, but he still impacted life in 1600's and the current life.
