1947- Freddie Williams and Tom Kilburn develop tube | Sutori

1947- Freddie Williams and Tom Kilburn develop tube

Two men in 1947 created something called the Kilburn tube. This tube is very important because it is the first electronic and high speed memory tube. It was used to collect information on a screen.

1958- Digital Phone Lines

In 1958, digital transmission was used to allow more telephone calls on lines by major phone companies. This helped connect to switching centers (switching centers are used to transition calls from one place to another.) This model was used up until the 1980's, that is when a digital line was created.

1962- Atlas Computer

At the university of Manchester, a man named Tom Kilburn and his team had the concept of virtual memory. They had made this discovery on a atlas computer in 1962. The virtual memory allowed people to switch programs quickly.

1971-Computer Space is released

Computer space is one of the first electronic arcade games to exist. This device doesn't need a microprocessor, RAM, or ROM to work. Though it may have been a simple design, it opened the door for arcade games.

1983- Lisa Computer

In 1983 Apple releases the Lisa Computer. This computer was a personal computer that had a graphical user interface programmed in it. It was a very important program for companies like Microsoft Windows and the Macintosh computer adapted the graphical user interface.

1990- Worldwide web is created

Tim Berners-Lee, an English programmer and physicist that first thought of the idea of the web in 1989. After he was denied of his idea of the web, he then created the idea of a worldwide web prototype that was then later used in many new models of computers in the 1990s. As you know the web is still used today and is still growing in many different ways.

2000- First camera phone

in 2002, the first camera phone was released. A company in Japan called Softbank created a digital phone that had a camera in it. The photo could also be shared wireless and opened the door for flip phones that later became very popular.
