18th of March 2014 - Crimea is officially incorporated into the Russian Federation

On the 27th of February, masked "little green men" or troops without insignia deposed the Crimean Supreme Council and seized numerous strategic locations such as the port of Sevastopol. The relatively bloodless takeover resulted in skyrocketing approval rates for the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
