THE DARK AGES:

Today we are going to talk about the causes of the beginning of the Middle Ages, why it is called the Dark Age, the most important events of this time ... etc.

The Middle Ages is a very imortant period of the history for many reasons: it was a period of transition between the Atique Ages and the Modern Ages, in this period many important suceses that have change our way or live were made.

EARLY MIDDLE AGES:

3TH-4TH CENTURY:

The 4th Century was from 301 to 400.

RED: Republic.

PURPLE: Empire.

GREEN: Eastern / Byzantine Empire.

BLUE: Empire of the West.

At the end of the 3th Century the emperor Diocletian wanted to prevent the Roman Empire from breaking and to govern it easier. This caused the last of the great persecutions of Christians, from now on he wanted all its citizens to share the same religion, Christianity. But  because of his successor Constanine, everything change.

Constantine rebuilt the city of Byzantium, Constantine renamed the city, calling it "New Rome." Several generations later a story was spread about the divine vision that led Constantine to rebuild the city, because an angel (that no one else could see) appeared him during a war. After his death, the city changed its name again to  Constantinople, "the City of Constantine", and gradually became the capital of the Empire.

5TH CENTURY:

The 5th Century was from 400 to 500.

Theodosius was a Roman Emperor of Hispanic origin, at the end of the 4th century, with him the Roman Empire reached its fullness.

The Roman Empire began to suffer an internal crisis, especially the Western Roman Empire, so his emperor moved the capital of the Western Roman Empire (in Rome) to the Eastern Roman Empire. Theodosius, because of administrative and control reasons, decided to divide the Empire between the East Roman Empire, to be goberned by his elder soon; Arcadius, with 18 years, and the Western Roman Empire, to be goberned by his youngest soon; Honorius, with 10 years old.

In the year 410, the Western Roman Empire begins to have problems when the barbarian tribes penetrate through Gaul and Hispania, the western empire has continued attacks.

Because of the crisis that had the Empire, the few defenses and the emperor was too young to take important decisions, the Western Roman Empire was conquered by the Barbarians for centuries.
