Slavery in Thailand

by Patrick Tucci

Article 4 -
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.

Summary:

Thailand is known for their fishing industry but are the truly known for their slavery background that makes the fishing industry to efficient? In Thailand people are being offered jobs on fishing boats and are offered decent pay but when in reality they are forcing people to stay on the boats to work for free. 90% of these slaves are from Cambodia because they are very close to the shore line and hard to be detected when they are being transported to different fishing boats. These people are being enslaved by being temped by being offered decent wages on fish boats so they can provide for their families. instead of working on a boat they are kidnapped and payed nothing to work on the fishing boat.
