Who is Brigitte Bardot?

September 28, 1934

  • Brigitte Bardot was born.

1949

  • She appeared as a cover model in the Elle magazine at the age of 15, but she was only identified by her initials, BB.

1952

  • Bardot made her first big-screen debut in LeTrou Normad.  Her upcoming years were soon followed by many more debuts. She also met her husband Roger Vadiam and they married December 21, 1952.

1956

  • The film "And God Created A Woman" launched Bardot's international stardom because it was a very sensual film. The next year, Brigitte Bardot and Roger Vadiam divorced and she married actor, Jacques Cherrier.

1958

  • She tried to commit suicide by using gas and pills because she was deeply sadden by the suicide of a relative the year before.

November 1, 1960

  • Brigitte Bardot gave birth to her son, Nicholas - Jacques Charrier and he is raised by his father's family. Two years later, she divorced Jacques Charrier.

1968

  • Bardot embarked on a career as a musical artist and released albums like Brigitte Bardot Sings and Special Bardot. She also would record hits with French vocalist/ songwriter, Serge Gainsbourg.

1970-1973

  • Bardot's beauty became more and more noticeable to the public eye so she kept getting more and more movie jobs and she even started modeling for 3 years. In 1973, she retired and went to live in St. Tropez.

Mid 1970

  • Bardot fell in love with animal and decied to established the Foundation for the Protection of Distressed Animals because she wanted to help keep animals happy and safe.

Mid 1980

  • She founded the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and protection of Animals. Her work lead to the European council banning the importing of seal fur and the French government banning Ivory imports.

Why is Brigitte Bardot important?  She is important because she was very big in the modeling industry, she's a very good actress and musician, and she even made programs to help help animals happy and safe.
