HOMELESS PERSONS ARE ROUNDED UP AND TRANSPORTED TO "SAFE SPACES" ACROSS THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN

The Strandfontein Sports Complex was Cape Town's biggest temporary shelter for the homeless during lockdown, with around 1 500 people being accommodated on the site.

Nestled under the Nelson Mandela Boulevard overpass, the City of Cape Town has set up a temporary homeless shelter to house 267 occupants,before the group was moved to Strandfontein in an attempt to consolidate the efforts of the City to house the homeless during the lockdown.

The City of Cape Town has moved homeless people off the streets to a camp at the Strandfontein Sports Grounds, in an effort to contain the spread of the virus amongst homeless people.


However, the ward councillor for the area claims the city never consulted him nor the residents.
