iTunes 7 is not worth the download

Itunes 7 is just a big memory hog! If you are using iTunes 6, don't bother upgrading to iTunes 7. The additional bells & whistles are not worth it. Sitting idle, iTunes 7 uses over 50MB of memory, compared to under 30MB for iTunes 6. The additional features, and minor changes to the GUI are hardly worth it. Stick with version 6 as long as you can, because there is no turning back!

I completely agree. I just downloaded it -- big mistake -- and tried to put a song on my iPod. Now it's taking ten + minutes to "anayze gapless playback information" while I sit here waiting to disconnect the thing. Uggh.

Further to this story, I recently bought a new iPod. Apparently my 10GB iPod was not big enough anymore, so I went out and picked up the 80GB. If that's not enough room in a couple year, then I have a problem. That being said, I was avoiding installing the iTunes 7 on my home laptop, because of my previous experience on my work machine. Evidently to support the new iPod, you have to install iTunes 7. Great, so now my laptop is running slower too. Fantastic.
