Lowest Price Guarantee!

About a couple of months ago, I was looking for a particular Nintendo DS game. I went to Superstore but it was all sold out. I knew Superstore would be the cheapest because it was offering this coupon for $10 off on all video games and the game I was looking for was $34. The day after, I went to Best Buy and found the game I was looking for but the price was close to $20 more than Superstore including the use of the coupon. Since Best Buy had this policy of “Lowest Price Guarantee”, I thought of testing whether it would work. I was skeptical because I heard my friends had tried it at Future Shop and it never worked. I went to Customer Service and told them that Superstore was selling for $10 cheaper plus they also have a coupon for an additional $10 off. I had the coupon but I couldn’t prove that Superstore was selling it for $34. Best Buy couldn’t do a price check since Superstore never answers their phone. But for some reason, the Customer Service at Best Buy took my word and gave me $20 dollars off on the game! I couldn’t believe it! At the end, I was a happy customer because I got my game (which was sold out at Superstore and I also got the discount).

I also love the fact that their sales reps don’t work on a commission. So different from Future Shop because I always feel that when I shop at Future Shop, I always get paranoid and irritated when they try to approach me and ask if I want to buy so I have this strategy of avoid and dodge at all cost. Owned by the same company and yet I feel so differently about them.

Totally agreed Sweet Pea. Best Buys experience is so much closer to what I want. I hate stores where I have to fend off sales people with a stick.

Does anyone really like it when a sales person swoops in and asks "Can I help you?"

Why is it that when you need to talk to a sales rep, you cannot find one and when you just want to be left alone and shop for yourself, you are bombarded ? I pretty much stick to buying online now anyways to avoid this situation. FS and BB have to price match with each other now as well so if you buy something from one and the other offers a price drop for what you just bought (typical), you can call their center and have it retroactively price matched (I think you have 30 days to do so). Nice post sweet_pea.

I recently wanted to buy a LCD tv and I found Best Buy to be one of the most expensive. The name best buy is misleading. I found better deal at Costco and local chains where you can bargain.
