Zenni Optical - Buyer Beware!

Company/Brand: Zenni Optical
23-03-2007

Eyeglasses purchased from Zenni Optical appear to be low quality and their customer service stinks.  I bought 2 pair of glasses with titanium frames; described as "extremely strong frames."  Both broke - one in less than a month and one in about 3 months.  No satifaction from Zenni Optical.  I had a very rude customer service representative on the phone discussing a 50% discount promised by another representative due to problems with my first pair of glasses and was told they would not honor the discount promised.  I asked to speak with the manager.  The rude customer service representative told me that she was the owner (I think she really is and have talked with her multiple times since).  Anyway, she said he representative that offered the 50% discount did not work there anymore and was not authorize to offer the discount and Zenni Optical would not honor it.  I went ahead and bought the second pair, paying by credit card at my credit card company's advice and then the credit card company refunded 50% of the purchase price and they dealt with Zenni Optical.  Nice credit card company (USAA Federal Savings Bank) but jerks at Zenni Optical.  My second pair of titanium frame glasses broke 2 days ago (about 3 months old) and are not repairable.  Zenni Optical said they can make me new glasses (and you guessed it, at their regular price).  DON'T DEAL WITH ZENNI OPTICAL - unless you want a crumby product and rude customer service that produces no results.

I have ordered three pairs of glasses from them - two regular vision and one with progressive lens. I wear contacts during the day and to work, and glasses only at home at night. Progressive lens glasses from an optician here (eastern Canada) would have cost me $400+ -- price from Zenni was $68.

I haven't had any problems with any of the glasses I've ordered, nor have two of my co-workers that have ordered from them. I am not saying they are super quality frames - but they suit my purpose and saved me a lot of money. And the prescription quality has been spot on.

I have ordered 2 pairs of glasses from Zenni, one for me and one for my daughter, the combined price with shipping was under $100 and I have high index lenses. The quality of mine was slightly less than I was expecting but they look great and fit right and the Rx is perfect. I live in western Canada and would have expected to pay about $500 for the 2 of us, as we have no coverage for eyeware this was a godsend for us. I can afford new glasses every year or two if I want now!

I haven't had any problems with what we've ordered and I recommended zenni to others.

I ordered 2 pairs of glasses for myself. One was a plastic frame which rests directly on your nose and has no nose pieces. The second pair was a pair of half rim sunglasses. Both pairs were excellent. With shipping these set me back about 37 dollars. I was expecting crap for the price, but what I got was quality glasses.

I have been wearing the plastic ones everyday , all day, for 8 monthes now, and counting. The sunglasses, which are usually thrown around in and out of backpacks and pockets, are still in great shape. Considering it was gonna cost me 62.50$ a lens to tint my olf glasses at a shop where I didnt purchase them. Zenni provided me with a great alternative.
