Boo to Bryan's

Last year I purchased two nice tops at Bryan's Fashions in Brentwood Mall. They both had nice detailing on them, with beads, sequins and embroidery. They were mid-range in terms of price, about $40-50 each. But I soon found out that they were low-range in terms of quality.

When I got the shirts home, I cut off the tags and hung them up in my closet. That night I wore one of the tops out to a friend's place. Throughout the night, I kept hearing noises when I walked on a hard floor. Well whadda ya know, the beads on my shirt were falling off! On top of being embarrassed, I was pissed that my brand new top was already falling apart. I had worn it for 3 or 4 hours max. Further inspection when I returned home revealed that a lot of the beads had fallen off in that brief time.

So I decided to return the top. In my view, it was a faulty item. It couldn't even stand up to a few hours of wear. Before heading back to the store I took a closer look at my second top and found that some of the threading was coming apart on it too. And I hadn't even worn that one yet.

Off to the store I went, with my disappointing purchases in hand plus the tags and receipt. The salesperson promptly told me they could not, under any circumstances, take back any item once the tag had been cut off. But...I protested...the top is faulty. I suppose I should have used my psychic powers to forsee that I shouldn't cut the tags off because the shirts were going to fall apart the first time I wore them? I got really pissed off, argued with the manager, but they would not take them back.

They did offer to fix the tops, so I guess they didn't totally screw me over. They did an okay job on the fix (not great though), but the problem is that, on top of the questionable quality of the garments, the designs are flawed. I haven't worn either shirt since because I'm afraid they will fall apart again. Actually, I just pulled one out of closet and it already looks like it's starting to come apart a bit. All that wear in tear in my closet I guess. So now Bryan's has my $100 and, lucky me, I have 2 new ornaments for my closet.

But that's not the end of my rant. Sometime after this frustrating incident I was at the mall and noticed that the Bryan's store was closed. Found out there was some flooding and they had to renovate the entire store. It was closed for months. There's karma for you.
